Why is it important to have a photographer you're comfortable with?

Your photographer is the vendor that you will be spending most of your time with on your wedding day, besides your planner. We're pretty much by your side the entire day up until the reception, which is why I always encourage having a phone call with any photographer you're considering booking to ensure you're both a mutual fit and have good chemistry with one another!

How do my planner and my photographer work together on my wedding day?

We work so closely with your planner not only on the wedding day, but leading up to it as well. We're in contact about timelines, layouts and all the important details to ensure we don't skip a beat come your wedding day. Your photographer and planner having a close relationship is important and makes everything run smoothly. This is definitely another place where good chemistry and trust come into play because if vendors don't work well with the people on their team, they won't be able to perform their best. Put faith in your planner's preferred vendors, you can't go wrong!

What are a few things to look for when finding a photographer for my wedding day?

Oh love this question. You know, some of my favorite relationships with my brides have come from the ones who became my real friend after the wedding, I'd say to look for someone you could see yourself truly being friends with. Most photographers give some insight on their personal life on their website, so definitely read through that thoroughly. Second, I think more than anything it's most important to hire a photographer that you trust - this is probably most important of all. You won't be able to fully relax and enjoy your day the way you deserve to if you don't trust who you're working with. I'm sure most photographers would agree with me that we truly do our best work when brides give us 110% freedom to utilize our own workflow and be creative come wedding day.

Do you recommend having the same photographer for engagement photos as well as wedding photos?

Yes! If you plan to have an engagement session, I wholeheartedly recommend doing this with the photographer you're hiring for your wedding. Not only is it an amazing way for you and your partner to get a little bit of practice before the big day, but it also helps us get to know how you two interact with one another. I can get an early sense for what makes you laugh, what kind of posing works best for you and I honestly just love to hang out with you guys! It's the best.

What are your favorite ways to collaborate with wedding planners in preparation for a client's wedding day?

This is tough - I think my favorite is chatting through design plans, details and wedding day execution. I love when we get to talk through colors, inspiration and everything we are dreaming up to make your wedding day amazing. This is where I can see everything I want to create in my head then once the wedding day is here, I'm ready to make it all happen with my camera in hand! We're creatives at heart and making your day beautiful, relaxed and fun is what we're all about.
