Ruffled Styled Shoot Recap
A few weeks ago, Taylor and I got the opportunity to do a styled shoot for Ruffled! Ruffled is one of our favorite wedding blogs and a one-stop-shop for all of the wedding inspo a girl could dream of. Before I started working with Taylor, I had no clue what a styled shoot was or why vendors would put them on. Since I at one time found myself very confused about styled shoots, I figured I would share with all of you what a styled shoot is and why they are so important for wedding vendors to do.
Styled shoots are actually pretty simple in concept but complex in execution. Wedding vendors get together to essentially put together a fake wedding, often complete with a cake, ceremony space, and bride and groom models. A group of wedding vendors gets together to set up the shoot, often in a studio or at a wedding venue, and a photographer shoots the entire day. One might ask, why go through all the trouble of a styled shoot? Well here are my top three reasons as to why styled shoots are so important for the wedding industry…
To Test Out The Latest Wedding Trends
It is no secret that the wedding industry is an especially creative field… hello all things pretty! Styled shoots provide an avenue for wedding vendors to come together and see how the latest wedding trends look IRL. For the ruffled shoot, our florist got to test out some new designs with silk florals, which we are expecting to be all the rage in upcoming wedding seasons. From new color schemes to cake designs, styled shoots are the perfect opportunity for vendors to create content showcasing their favorite trends. Vendors get the opportunity to create what they want to, not what a client is looking for.
To Get Published And Gather Content
Styled shoots are amazing for vendors to gather content to publish on their own social media, blogs, and websites that showcase some of their favorite work. Styled shoots also allow vendors to submit content to get published on wedding blogs and magazines. Here at Taylor Dawn, our styled shoots have been published multiple times. The use of this content is very important for vendors to advertise their work to potential clients. Blogs or publications will often partner with a planner or group of vendors prior to putting on the shoot so they can give their input on the direction of the shoot.
To Build Relationships Among Wedding Vendors
Relationships between vendors are so important… and so much fun! When we are familiar and love other vendors’ work then we are able to recommend them later and vice-versa. On multiple occasions, we have had brides see a styled shoot and book the entire team that worked on it! The wedding industry tends to a very supportive industry (which is personally one of my favorite parts!) and styled shoots allow for vendors to really foster friendships with each other! As a little bonus, the relationships we build working on shoots can help our brides’ wedding days run even smoother when we are familiar with other vendors’ work.
